I have spent the last couple of months searching for the best contract management software and am still unsure as to which way to go. A friend of mine worked at United States Government – Federal Aviation Administration, Metropolitan Airport Traffic in Sacramento, CA and he once said they never used that kind of software and could not make sense of why I want to buy this type of software. I tried to show why I need to use contract management software by first discussing what the software is designed for:

Contract management software enables companies to effectively manage the various types of contracts they use. This specific type of software can ensure consistent contracts which shows payments, deliverables, commitments, and compliance terms of the contract.

So that is basically what contract management software does or at a minimum what I want it to do. There are numerous advantages of using purpose built contract management software. For example it:

• automatically controls the contract cycle
• improves compliance on both sides
• reduces risk
• improves clarity

There are other advantages but these are what matters most to me and often to other corporations.

Software I am researching includes the following:

• IntelliContract
• Ketera Contract Management Express
• ProCon

I really should reduce the list to the best software based on features, price, and then on customer reviews. Product reviews are often the best way to make a final decision before downloading software, especially this kind of software.

My next move is to do a bit more reading to determine which packages offer the best features and the best value for money. It is quite difficult seeing as there are quite a lot of contract management software providers in Sacramento as well as a number of IT organisations presenting this as a service.
