I have spent the last few months searching for the most reliable contract management software and am still not convinced as to which way to go. A colleague of mine briefly worked at Airtran Airways in Boston, MA and he said they never used that kind of software and could not understand why I want to get this specific type of software. I tried to explain why I want to use contract management software by first explaining what the software is used for:

Contract management software allows enterprises to easily manage the many types of contracts they engage in. This specific type of software can ensure consistent contracts which shows payments, deliverables, commitments, and compliance terms of the contract.

So that is what contract management software does or at least what I want it to do. There are a number of reasons for using specific contract management software. For example it:

• automates the contract cycle
• facilitates compliance on both sides
• reduces risk
• improves clarity

There are other advantages but those are what matters most to me and frequently to other businesses.

I really must shorten the list to the most effective software based on features, cost, and then on user reviews. Software reviews are frequently the quickest way to make a final decision before purchasing software, especially such important software.

My next step is to do a bit more investigating to work out which packages offer the greatest features and the best value for money. It is quite difficult seeing as there are a lot of contract management software providers in Boston as well as a number of IT organisations presenting this as a service.
